Newsletter from The Nutcracker Lady

Each year we send displays for the holidays to another museum somewhere in the US.  This year we sent one to the Cowlitz County Historical Museum in our own state of Washington, and another to the Paine Art Center and Gardens at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, from whom we received these delightful photos.

The first photo shows an overview of the Gothic Gallery where the nutcrackers are displayed.

The second photo shows carved lever nutcrackers from Switzerland, Norway, France, Germany and Poland which range from the 17th through 20th centuries

The third photo has a variety of lever and screw nutcrackers of various styles and materials, including an ivory screw and a betel cutter from India.

In the months ahead the staff will be focusing our energies on preparing for the exciting expansion scheduled for 2019, so we will be doing the newsletter quarterly rather than each month.  We will however, put more frequent introductions of new specimens when they arrive at the museum.  We are lucky here, because it is like Christmas, when the postman brings a delivery from afar.

Merry Christmas to everyone from the Board of Directors and the Staff of the Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum!
