MUSEUM SPECIAL PIECES...
EARLY ENGLISH YEW

This nutcracker was carved in England and is dated 1669. It was carved of Yew wood and measures only 4.5 inches. It has intricate carvings including a swan, monkey, fox, bearded man, and other animals and birds gracing the handles. The name of George Bannister is carved into the top, and the ends of the handles are adorned with faces.
