We just returned from Europe
with wonderful additions to the museum!!! The first is a
small 6 inch king from the 17th century. It is carved of
boxwood, and has unusual iron eyes.

The second picture shows three
screw nutcrackers from England. The top left is of boxwood
from the 17th century. In addition to the star design, it
has a snake carved into the sides. The top right is also
boxwood, and is from the late 17th century. The bottom one
is a love token from the 19th century, and was pictured in
"Treen for the Table" by Jonathan Levi.

The next series of pictures
show an exquisitely carved 18th century lever nutcracker
from the Alsace region of France. It is 9.5 inches and
carved of boxwood with intricate allover carving. This
nutcracker is unusual in that the head is turned to the
side.
