Hang tags are another
thing that some people like to keep on their nutcrackers. I
do not expect each nutcracker to have a hang tag, as many
of them do not come with them. Even the Steinbach do not
always have a hang tag. These also may change from importer
to importer, as some want their own name on the nutcracker.
So, I really prefer to show mine without the hang tags.
Some of them are cumbersome and detract from the display.
Some makers put stickers on the bottom of the nutcracker,
some stamp the bottom of the nutcracker with their logo,
and some burn their logo into the bottom of the base. Some
use hang tags only, in which case you will want to keep the
hang tag. Limited editions not only have the logo burned
into the base, but include a sticker with the number of the
edition and the number of the nutcracker. Sometimes this
information is hand written, but if this information is
missing, the value of the nutcracker is less. Several times
we have found stickers on the shelf, or in the box, or
sometimes missing altogether, so the value of the piece
must be less. |
